My Medical App Reviews

Well worth the investment!

This is one of the best investments in our familys health I’ve made; it allows me to keep detailed information on everything from medications, injection records, test results, and diagnoses to family history and anecdotal symptoms. My spouse doesn’t have the interest I do in keeping medical data updated; he relies on his memory when the doctor asks questions about his medical history details, so with this app I can keep the info for him. When he has an issue in which he is unable to respond to important questions (as when he was hit by a bicycle while jogging), I will have important information at my fingertips (emailed export text file) to give the required information for his care. Looking back at my health notes I have also seen patterns in symptoms that I had not noticed. VERY VALUABLE! The app has many wonderful features, such as being able to export the information to an email so that I can easily refer to the information I need when I am away from my desktop. Of course another feature, being able to share data between my desktop app and my iPad or iPhone app, gives me another way to have access to my info when I am away. I discovered this app when I had my iPad. Being able to archive the data meant that when I no longer had my iPad I could still purchase the My Medical app for my desktop and incorporate the saved (archived) data into it. It even has the ability to access my calendar (with permission) to remind me of medical appointments and renewal of medications. The developer is very responsive to questions and providing help, so I have no reservations about recommending this app.

Fantastic New Update with Dropbox Sync!

I previously gave this app only four stars due to its lack of syncing capability. With the latest update adding Dropbox sync, this app now gets five stars! It allows me to really track my medical history, which is important for me as I have Crohn’s disease. I can easily view and share my blood work with multiple physicians and my registered dietician. With the new sync ability, I can now enter information wherever I am and have it appear on all my devices. Fantastic!

Flakey Dropbox sync

Really flakey Dropbox sync. Not yet ready for prime time.

Works like a charm

I’ve tried Microsoft HealthVault years ago but didn’t quite like it. I tried My Medical iPhone app last year and liked it but did not care for the backup system (email data to yourself). Now bought desktop version on sale and both mobile and laptop app synch great using DropBox. Do not use iCloud, which most developers, and users, find unreliable. Just follow given instructions. Now I’m ready to add more data. Deep down I’m concerned the developer (from Turkey?) might give up from lack of volume growth so I’m never going to throw out hard copies but hope to file them away in the basement if this software crashes and burns, losing all the data.

Has short-term potential, but am I wasting my time?

I recently purchased this product (last couple of months), and I do see the developers work on fixing issues as they can. That bodes well for the future. The negatives: #1-Nothing in this program really “flows”. You can kind of link some things, but not everything. I just feel like I am all over the place when I am trying to work inside the program. For example: You can enter eyesight information, but the office visit you scheduled for the eyesight checkup (including doctor), can not link to anything you put in. The data is already there. Just link it. Little things like this occur all over the program. Some things you can link, many you just can’t. #2-Exporting a CCR exports very little of the information you took so much time to enter. For example, I recently created a Microsoft HealthVault account in addition to having MyMedical. My thought was to use MyMedical as the “tool” to enter information, and Microsoft HealthVault to actually store it and send it to physicians. I had previously entered in dozens of records for my daughter, but when I exported the file, there were only 3 records (1 of which was her name) exported in the CCR file. That means, if I want to use both programs, I have to manually add almost everything. The positives: -They really do have a lot of the possible medical situations covered as far as data you have to track. -The DropBox integration seems to be working well. This has helped me tremendously! -The app links to Calendar. This allows me to create the appointment in MyMedical, and then push it to Calendar. This has often helped remind me to ask certain questions and get certain information with his medical record open in front of me. Overall, I like MyMedical. Like my rating suggests “It’s ok.” However, all it would take to get me to switch to a new program is one that “flows” better. Unless, of course, MyMedical improved theirs!

“My Medical quit unexpectedly"

all info lost……again totally unreliable on Mac and iPhone

Was a great app

I’ve been using this app for about 2 years now and have loved it until recently. I went to use the drop box sync function and lost ALL of the information on all of my devices (iMac, MacBook, iPad, and iPhones). I had over 200 records and they are all gone. Once the sync issue is fixed I would rate it at the 5 stars but for now only 3 because the only reliable way to get information between devices is the “send to another” feature which is time consuming.

Responsive Customer Service but All Data Lost

Concept: ***** Interface: **** Usability: *** or ***** It would be nice if there could be more customization, and if there was a way to connect with other EMR’s. Reliability: * all data lost. After troubleshooting, new data will not save reliably. Support: They tried and were prompt, but perhaps the app needs more safety nets to ensure that lost data is automatically synced with DropBox, ideally at least two other locations. I appreciate the concept, the effort and the support, but this software is too high risk for me.

Sync Kills the idea

The sync is what kills this platform. There are several items that are great and there are some areas that need improvement, however, it is understandable that those standard improvements that would come with dot releases have not been forthcoming because the developer is dealing with sync issues. My experience has been one of ups and downs. I have the iPad, iPhone, and Mac versions of the software and am using Dropbox sync. However, just as others have mentioned on the reviews, the sync created a duplicant person for each person of record I had. Then when I tried to delete one, it erased both. Now, I have no data, and because they fixed the Dropbox sync so that it now happens almost simultaneous, all of my data was deleted from all my devices. I was able to get the data back, but I still have duplicates in my records. It is very frustrating as these sync issues have plagued the product from the beginning. It has the potential to be great, but for now, the data is safer in just a storage account like Evernote, than itemized like I want to in My Medical. If they fixed the sync I would give it 4 stars with the chance to improve.

Back and forth

There are days this app works great, and the along comes an update and it’s a nightmare again. I’ve had to give up on the drop box sync because it was creating too much of a mess with my records. I’ve reverted to the device sync (which at one point had stopped working for me). It’s what I find to be the cleanest way to keep my information organized the way it should. Of course it’s a pain because I am using this on my iphone, iPad, Mac Mini, and MBP. I’m still hopeful hospitalization information scheduling begins to appear on the calendar correctly. It’s still odd that this was an oversight. It would also be helpful to have a bit more control over the data tables supporting the test results. The only way I was able to clear this out was having another device overwrite the application since it had not been updated with any entries. This section of the program is way too clunky. The app does have potential, but it takes a great deal of work as an end user to keep it moving.

Create new sections and delete useless sections

I’m an eye care pro and no need to some sections of the program. I also need to add some sections to the program. How can I do them?

iCloud sync doesn’t work

I bought this for the sync capability and it doesn’t work so its worthless. I added information on my Mac and chose export/save/icloud. When I turned on iCloud sync on my phone and downloaded, I got an older version of my information. I’ve had this app for a year or so waiting for them to improve it and its not happening. Unfortunately there isn’t a good competing application out there that I’ve found. With all of the apps for everything you can imagine out there, why is it so hard to find one that reliably stores medical information for Mac?

Very good application

I looked fo ryears for an app that met my needs: 1.) Needs to be able to record daily Glucose, BP, Weight, basic excercise and food - this app does those and more (if needed) very well 2.) Needs to store data only locally - NOT in the cloud - this app does that and can use the cloud if you want to -but it’s NOT required 3.) Needs to have a MacOSX version as well as an IOS version (not required but nice to have) This app meets all of my criteria very well. Setting it up take a few minutes and some trial and error but it’s pretty simple. I record all of my vitals every daya nd editing the vitals pages is very simple and easy once you play around a bit. My recommendation is that you setup this app and then play with it with some small amout of trial data and then make changes and learn the app. Otherwise there are some quirks (really just normal stuff) that can cause some frustration. In my case, I edited the Vitals templates to suite my needs and then entered a couple days worth of data and played around with using the app. I also checked the files that store the actual data and also tested syning between the MacOSX version (which is where I primarily enter data) and my IOS devices…it all worked very well. Highly recommended for people with diverse needs for tracking vitals.

Running on Yosemite iMac, iPhone and iPad (iOS 8)

As a longtime user of other database products, I find My Medical to barely meet my expectations. It needs to offer more customization, but it does seem to cover most of the information you would want to see. My biggest gripe is with DropBox syncing across devices. I cannot get this to work, and tech support is pretty bad- they rarely return my emails within 1-2 days, and they don’t have any sort of phone number or live chat system. I’ve installed DropBox, logged in from all of my devices but the iOS devices never recognize the data from my iMac/DropBox account. Very frustrating. I’d be willing to pay a bit more for a medical app that had more sophistication and support.

In need of improvement

In this app, you enter all physicians on one page, all prescriptions on another, all appointments on still another. But you cannot get all the information for one single doctor on one page. If you want to know what appointments you had with doctor A, you need to go to the appointments page, if you want to know which prescriptions you got from doctor A, you need to go to the presciption sheet. For me, the app would have been useful only if all information concerning one physician were on the same page. Unless this function is added to the app, it is of little use to me.

Input flow

I am a nurse and I do home visits. The concept is exactly what I needed but the flow of inputing information is horrible. Needs to be able to put all vital signs (bp, Temp, Resperations, Pulse, Pain level, PO2%) on one page. A fix for it would be the ability to edit and group tests. Maybe also being able to freate your own forms to record answers over time.

Poor support and reliability

I have used My Medical for over for the past few years and have not had any problems until recently. My medical is running on my MacBook Pro and my iPhone using their Dropbox sync. A few weeks ago I checked the application and all my data was lost for the past year on both devices. I sent 2 emails to support requesting assistance and received no replies from the developer. While losing the data was disconcerting the lack of any support from the company is unacceptable. Over the years I have contacted other firms for support with their apps and have always received a prompt reply. This is the first company that has not bothered to answer repeat emails for assistance. If you are looking for an app to store your medical data reliably as well as a firm that will assist you when necessary then I urge you to stay away from My Medical.

Where is the support?

I’ve been using My Medical on my iMac for a few years because it’s perhaps the only real PHR available for Mac / iOS. As others have noted, the workflow and data entry could use some work, but the basics are there. There is a lot of potential. My major concern now is that I’ve recently added the iOS app and the Dropbox syncing is not working across devices. The app keeps trying to setup a new chart file in my Dropbox, rather than take up the existing data already from my Mac. I have emailed for support 3 times and gotten no response. I’m guessing they’ve stopped developing this, but to not even answer an email is pretty disappointing after being a regular user. If this product is no longer being developed, it needs to be removed from the App store.

Poor Support

I have been using My Medical for a couple of years and while not perfect it was the best on the market until recently. I have used it across all my devices. I was inputing data on my iMac and suddenly the app crashed and I can’t get it back. I’ve tried reinstalling and using an old version. Nothing. So I emailed support over a week ago and haven’t heard anything. I just don’t have the time to follow up on this type of thing. Does anyone know any other program I can used?
