My Medical App Reviews

Just keeps getting better

Ive been using this app and the iPhone app for sometime now without any loss of data. The program is easy to navigate and covers every area of medical documentation that I have incountered. My beef is that I wish they would clarify the part about being able to move the database to Dropbox or other shared folder. This version clearly states that it now supports the ability to move the database to a shared folder, but when I ask for instructions on how to move the database, Im told that it cant be done when use iCloud for syncing. So why mention Dropbox at all? The previous version was supposed to support a move to Dropbox, but when I asked for instructions, Im told that it cant done and still sync the database. So why mention Dropbox support if it doesnt work?

Bugs keeps from full potential.

This app has the potential to be the best medical app Ive ever seen. But there are some bugs. Bug # 1, if you choose to use iCloud sync…which ever app you turn icloud on last is what will be uploaded to the cloud. For example, I purchased all three apps, the Mac, iPhone, & iPad versions. So using the Mac I input my extensive medical history into the program. Then I setup the app on my iPhone and iMac. Rather than iCloud uploading the info I just put into the system, it uploaded the blank data from the newly opened app to the iCloud and deleted everything I put into my Mac app. Bug # 2, I then tried to backup the app using a Continuality Care Report. Every time I hit backup on my Mac, it locks the program up. I cant input any data, I cant even close the app. It is perpetually locked until I reboot my computer. But oh wait…it wont let me do that either because the program wont close. So basically you have to hard reboot your computer to unlock the program. Now, lets go over the good things. Once you get done with the trial and error of it, it works flawlessly. (besides the lockup described above) It syncs, and it does the ability to save any files in the app itself. No need to keep redundant copies on your computer (be warned though) I wouldnt delete any files you have on your computer until the bugs are worked out). I hope the bugs are fixed soon.

Great app, but some bugs

After I (successfully) downloaded these Apps on all my devices (Desktop, iPad and iPhone), I found them much more useful than anticipated. I can gather all my medical information across all devices instantaneously using the iCloud feature. I was looking for a comprehensive App when my husband was diagnosed with Cancer. Now, instead of dragging my hugh binder of documents, records and notes to every treatment or appointment, I just bring my iPad or iPhone. I uploaded documents that can be emailed directly to the provider or printed to their eprint devices too, even X-rays and CT scan images. Very awesome. My only problem was getting the App downloaded on my desktop. There seems to be a bug on the Apple side, which they are currently trying to fix. In the meantime, I emailed their tech support and they led me to several fixes. This is the first App that I paid for separately on all three devices, but its so worth having all this data at my finger tips.

Great app, Excelent Support

I had a some trouble with the app, and the support people were great, and very professional.

Superb Application!

I recently purchased My Medical for my laptop and iPhone. I find this application very user-friendly for entering all of the data using my laptop. Synching the data with my iPhone was easy, quick and accurate. I now have all of my medical information at my finger tips for all appointments with any physician. What I most appreciate about this application is that I do not have to use the iCloud system to transfer data between my devices. As personal as this is, it is all stored on my laptop, iPhone and my external hard drive when I back up each month. I strongly recommend this application for anyone who wishes to maintain their own health records to be called upon at a moments notice.

syncs to all

Wonderful app. Holds all my medical info and syncs effortlessly to all my devices. emergency room people love it. I have had two heart attacks and eye surgery for cataracts in both eyes. nurses and Doctors loved having my info at their fingertips secure sync. directly to device & not through iCloud.

App NOT WORKING with iCloud - CRASHES!!!!

App crashing every time I activate iCloud Sync PLEASE FIX!!!!!!

Still not working correctly

I am impressed with the quick response from the team working on this issue but even after todays update… it is still not syncing over wi-fi or email or by sending to another device. Will happily give it 5 stars when everything transfers from my MacBook to my iPad.

Best Personal Medical File

One could look for other personal medical file programs for the Mac but will not find any that matches the features and thoroughness of this application; its that good. One extremely important feature that should be a part of this application is the function of automatically determining drug interactions using the current medications information. A seperate application does exist, “Epocrates”, that I currently use but having to change current medications taken in both programs is awkward and often ‘out of sync”. A melding of both programs would make the resulting application an absolute required program expecially for us geriatrics. I also would suggest the Current Medications file be divided into those prescriptions for temporary use (i.e., antibiotics, analgesics, etc.) and those prescribed for ongoing medical conditions (i.e., hypertension, hyperglycemia, etc.). Add to this new category (temporary prescriptions) a stop date when one would have exhausted taking the medication (app could auto calculated base on start date, dosage and number of refills).

iCloud Sync still buggy

This program appears to be very useful but the current 1.6.2 implementation does not yet provide a flawless iCloud sync, either between from OSX to iOS (Mac to iPad/iPhone) or between 2 OSX devices (Macs). More work is needed to add better error recovery surrounding the iCloud sync function as well. The export/import function can be used manually without error however. I will look forward to seeing improvements in a subsequent update(s).

Crashes make the program unusable

This program would be excellent if it didnt crash SO OFTEN! The design is excellent and its easy to use. If I could use it without the frequent crashing, it would be such a great tool to help me keep up with our medical history, appointments, and medications. However, its rare that I can enter even one item without the program shutting down. And because the program doesnt automatically save data entered, Ive lost lots of information when it crashed before I had a chance to save it. Please fix this program, and it will be a valuable tool. Otherwise…BUYER BEWARE!!!

Syncing problems

It does not sync across platforms easy enough. They really need to work in that department. Kind of disappointing.

Please Fix Syncing

I really love this application because I have 7 peoples health issues and information to keep up with including my own. I have a Mac Pro, iPad and iphone and although the ipad and iphone syncs well. All of my information is not syncing to my MacPro properly. If this area is taken care of I would bring it to four stars. There is also a line where it ask if there are any allergies, however if you post yes there is no line to put what those allergies on. I have been using this for two years now and thought this would be updated by now. Still hoping you consider!

Another vote for fixing the Sync problem

As previous reviewers have mentioned, the sync capabilty and reliability of this app with its IPad counterpart leaves MUCH to be desired… in fact, it would be more accurate to say that the capability does not exist. I guess if one wanted to use it on a single device the app would be useful, but when I bought it, I did it believing the promise that the data would sync accross devices… and the developer has yet to deliver on that promise.

2.5 stars

I am torn between 3 stars or 2 stars. The program organizes everything nicely, but it doesnt do the one thing I wanted it to do. I want to print out my drugs in "List form" to have one neatly typed page to give to the nurse for the chart. This program takes 8 drugs and prints it out as 2 pages. I can view it in list form but they wont let you print it that way. Ill have to go find another program to do that…20$ down the drain.

Might be great stand alone but no auto sync or iCloud!

They tell you to buy the ipad app from Itunes to get he icloud sync capability. however once installed they tell you its disabled becuase of APPLE icloud instability issues. Well manual import export is not so hot - need data in both places without having to think about it. Looks like a nice stand alone app for if thats what someone is looking for. Uninstalled.

Excellent for tracking personal medical information

I have been looking or an application where I can input and keep track of my medical history. My Medical is that application. I just recently downloaded it for my MAC and have expanded it to my iPhone and iPad. I have an extensive medical history as I had breast cancer, various surgeries and hospitalizations, etc. It is nice to be able to put all my history in one local data base where I can instantly retrieve it. Once I get past the initial inputting of information, Im sure it will be an application I will utilize on a regular basis. Good work My Medical Team!!!

Very good app - but…...

This is a good app that comes close to providing all my needs. My wish list includes: 1. An ability to add and edit general information items other than limiting the edit capability to Test Results. Nor all providers are physicians. Some are hospitals, clinics, dentists, etc. 2. Include "Prescribing Physician" as an item when listing medications. 3. Increase speed of loading office visits. Many of us use this app because of a rather extensive medical history. Numerous office visits seems to result in slow loading.

Excellent Medical Records Database

Program is very well-structured to provide easy data entry and retrieval. Very well though through. Provides good reports on screen and in print. Multiple optional view of logical data segments. Had previously been using Bento for a self-designed medical records database, but it was not quite up to the job. My Medical App certainly does the job well!

Have loved it, but you all have to make up your mind about iCloud

I have really enjoyed using this app. The developers are either not up on how to correctly use iCloud or at best have so waffled in their desire to use Apples service that they have provided instruction to turn off iCloud. When I did this the following happened: 1. I received this error: [Error] The file couldn’t be saved. (512) 2. My familys medical records became inaccessible. 3. The ability to reaccess the records through iCloud is blocked by the application (Once you turn iCloud off, you cannot turn it back on). So my question is, why do My Medical developers seem to have such problems with iCloud when the myriad other apps I have dont seem to have such a fuss over iCloud. MyMedical devs suggest that iCloud has a reliability problem and/or security issue. Really? Could you provide some documentation to that effect? None of the other apps I use which also involve sensitive information seem to have that complaint about iCloud. I cannot imagine it would be a good business plan for Apple to just leave iCloud "unreliable and insecure". When I went to the mymedicalapp.com support page there is a modal window that greeted me: > To those who cannot access their data in iCloud: > We are working tirelessly to correct a problem where data cannot be retrieved from iCloud. A correction will be in the form of an update which can be downloaded from the App Store. Apple takes several days to deliver our updates to you, so your patience and understanding are appreciated. We are trying to solve this problem as quickly as humanly possible. Im sorry. Maybe you Maybe you could work tirelessly in testing your updates before releasing them. Thats a pretty big screw up. At least MyMedical acknowledges their error. The way, MyMedical has gone about these updates, forcing their preferences on users and doing so in completely unsatisfactory and unprofessional ways (i.e., causing my files to be no longer accessible from the app) should give you pause in downloading this otherwise (when its working) good and helpful app. As a user, I really shouldnt have to concern myself with the innerworkings of the code or intercompany politics between Apple and MyMedical. I paid for an app to manage my medical data across devices. I am no longer receiving that service at all.
